Ward 19 — Beaches-East York

I know how this neighbourhood works — because I've been helping it work for 25 years.

I've spent my career at the City of Toronto managing parks, waterfront, and public infrastructure — including right here in the Beaches and East York. I know how decisions get made at City Hall, what makes good projects succeed, and why some never get off the ground.

Ward 19 is facing real questions about development, transit, and the future of our public spaces. I want to bring what I've learned to the table and get things done.

Priorities

Parks and public spaces

Ward 19's parks and public spaces — from the waterfront to the ravines to the neighbourhood playgrounds — are what make this area feel like home. Keeping them well-maintained and well-planned takes more than good intentions.

It takes someone who understands how the City funds, designs, and delivers these projects. That's been my work for 25 years, and it's work I care about deeply.

Getting around the ward

How people get around the ward — by transit, by car, by bike, on foot — shapes daily life in ways that go far beyond commute times. These are complex issues that touch every part of the neighbourhood, and they don't lend themselves to easy answers.

Having spent 25 years inside City Hall, I understand how transit and infrastructure decisions actually get made, and where the real opportunities are to improve things.

Thoughtful development

Ward 19 is going to grow — that's not the question. The question is whether new development works with the neighbourhood or gets imposed on it. I've spent my career navigating exactly these kinds of decisions at the City, and I know what thoughtful planning looks like.

It means listening to residents, understanding what's already here, and making sure growth adds to a community rather than just adding density.

I'm a third-generation Beaches resident. My grandfather and great-grandfather lived on Cassels Avenue. My parents have been in the Beach for over 50 years. I've owned my home here for 25 years and raised three kids in Ward 19.

When you've been in a place this long, you don't just know the streets — you know the people, the history, and what makes it worth protecting. That's not something you pick up from a briefing. It's something you live.
