The Platform · Ward 19 · October 26
The plan for Ward 19.
Four priorities, built from 25 years of running the systems this ward depends on. Knowing how makes the difference — here's what that means in practice.
Pillar 01
Transportation
Keep the east end moving — a 501 that shows up, Danforth GO you can get to, and straight answers on the Gardiner.
Detailed commitments land here. Structure suggestion:
- The problem, in ward terms (one paragraph, specific streets/routes)
- What we'll do — 3-4 concrete commitments ("we," each with a how)
- Why James can deliver it (the operator angle, one line)
Pillar 02
Smart Growth
We're for development with infrastructure. We're against development without it.
Detailed commitments land here — Main & Danforth MTSA, Queen St mid-rise, Kingston Rd, 500 Dawes. Frame the gap as pace/funding lagging approved growth (per the validated claim boundary: schools yes, "no new infrastructure" no).
Pillar 03
Parks & Public Spaces
Clean, safe, maintained — with the same standard north of the Danforth as on the boardwalk.
Detailed commitments land here — washrooms/maintenance/programming, bylaw presence, Taylor Creek (pending the 4-season decision), island airport / harbour posture.
Pillar 04
Environment & Climate
Ready for the storms that are coming — flood-ready streets, a healthy lake, a city that plans ahead.
Detailed commitments land here — basement flooding (Kenilworth), stormwater, tree canopy, shoreline.
